According to Newman's book on Mulroney, apparently right after Muldoon's 1984 election win, Reynolds asked to be a Senator.
How fun. The party that trumpets an elected Senate and that laments patronage has as their former House Leader and Interim Leader someone who wrote a letter to Mulroney trumpeting his services to the PC party as being worthy of Senatorship.
